Some moments feel extra special, not just because they’re beautiful, but because they’re rooted in love, intention, and full-circle timing. Robert & Christine’s proposal this past July was one of those moments I’ll never forget.

This story actually began with family. Robert’s sister found my work on TikTok and reached out to me to help plan and capture a surprise proposal for her brother and his girlfriend, Christine. From the very first message, I knew this was going to be something meaningful.

Although Robert and Christine live on the West Coast, Boston holds deep significance in Christine’s family history—her parents met here, and their love story began in this city. When Robert and I talked through his vision, he knew immediately that he wanted to propose at the Japanese Lantern in the Boston Public Garden. A quiet, romantic spot filled with symbolism and timeless beauty, it was the perfect choice.

Christine was flying into Boston with her mom to visit her aunt, completely unaware that Robert had secretly booked a red-eye flight to fly across the country for the biggest question of his life. We carefully planned every detail. On the day of the proposal, Robert hid nearby while I tucked myself out of sight, camera ready.

As Christine walked through the Public Garden with her mom, she made her way right up to the Japanese Lantern. What she didn’t notice was Robert walking up behind her. When he gently tapped her on the shoulder and she turned around, the look on her face was pure, unfiltered shock, followed immediately by joy.

Robert dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him, and Christine happily said yes.

Cheers, happy tears, and tight hugs followed as they soaked in the moment together. Afterward, we wandered through the Public Garden for portraits to commemorate the start of this next chapter. One of my favorite details? We even captured a photo with the famous duck statues—an extra-special nod to their college mascot.

Despite the forecast calling for clouds, the sun shined beautifully that day, as if Boston itself was celebrating with them. Christine’s mom and aunt were overjoyed, and once the excitement settled, they FaceTimed family members to share the happy news, spreading the love far beyond the garden.

It was truly an honor to be part of such a meaningful beginning. Robert & Christine, thank you for trusting me with this once-in-a-lifetime moment. Your love story—rooted in family, distance, and destiny will always have a special place in my heart.

Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and full-circle moments!
