There is something incredibly special about being trusted to capture one of the most important moments in someone's life, and Dean and Isabella's proposal at the Arnold Arboretum in Boston was exactly that.

When Dean first reached out to me, he shared that he was planning a surprise proposal during their trip to Boston. As a Boston proposal photographer, I always get excited when I receive inquiries like these, but this one felt especially meaningful. Dean and Isabella were traveling all the way from Canada, and knowing that my photography style resonated with Dean's vision for such an important moment was truly an honor.

Planning the Perfect Boston Proposal

One of my favorite parts of being a proposal photographer is helping clients plan all the behind-the-scenes details. Proposals are exciting, but they can also come with a lot of nerves. That's why Dean and I scheduled several calls leading up to the big day to make sure every detail was thoughtfully planned.

From choosing the perfect location to discussing timing, positioning, and communication strategies, we worked together to create a plan that would allow Dean to focus on what mattered most—asking the love of his life to marry him.

My goal is always to make the process as stress-free as possible so couples can fully enjoy the experience.

A Surprise Proposal at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University

The chosen location was the beautiful Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, one of the most scenic and romantic proposal locations in Boston. With its winding pathways, lush gardens, and peaceful atmosphere, it provided the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable moment.

On the day of the proposal, I arrived early and carefully positioned myself near the garden entrance. Thanks to location sharing, I could track Dean and Isabella's arrival and make sure everything was set for the surprise. As they approached the stunning rose-covered archway leading into one of the gardens, my excitement grew. Dean gently stopped Isabella beneath the arch, took a deep breath, and got down on one knee.

The look on Isabella's face was pure surprise. In that moment, time seemed to stand still. Her reaction was filled with emotion, excitement, and joy as she realized what was happening. It was such a beautiful reminder of why I love documenting proposals. These are moments that can never be recreated, and being able to preserve them forever is something I never take for granted.

And of course, she said YES!

Celebrating Their Engagement with a Portrait Session

After the proposal, we spent time exploring the grounds of the Arnold Arboretum to capture engagement portraits while the excitement was still fresh.

The newly engaged couple couldn't stop smiling and laughing together. Every photograph reflected the happiness and emotion of the moment. From quiet embraces among the gardens to joyful celebrations along the pathways, every image told a piece of their story.

One of the things I loved most was hearing them talk about how Boston would forever hold a special place in their hearts. What started as a vacation became the location where they began a brand-new chapter together.

Now, whenever they return to Boston, they'll be able to revisit the exact spot where Dean asked Isabella to spend forever with him.
